Feeling towards GodFeeling towards God - even without words - is a prayer.
Words support and sometimes deepen the feeling. Guard this gift of feeling, given to you by the mercy of God Feeling prayer can beat a depth even deeper than Pure Attention, where the discursive use of the intelligence stops--no sequence of thoughts, but just a reaching up-- feeling out into the darkness--to the Lord : Feeling rather than thinking (out to the Lord ) if thinking means a series of linked thoughts.---- Just reaching to Him full of love: without acts without disturbance, the will is deeply united to Him. |

Feeling PrayerWhat has hitherto been thought now becomes feeling.
In prayer, the contrite phrase becomes contrition itself. A petition in words is transformed into a sensation of necessity' Prayer moves from feeling to feeling, sometimes without words. Sometimes the tongue recites holy words of prayer, but the mind wanders, or the mind understands the words, but the heart does not respond to them by feeling. Prayer of word and thought is joined by prayer of feeling. |

And God did so that night ; for it was dry on the fleece only, and on the ground there was dew. |

Heavenward GlanceA brief urgent prayer, usually with no words used.
A turning of the heart towards God in order that He may be sovereign in a situation.... perhaps seeking divine prompting when an instant decision is required, in that moment when time does not permit thought to find appropriate words.
