Pray at all times with every kind of spiritual prayer........................J.B.Phillips And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee.
L'Abandon
A form of constant prayer in which ,like "The practice of the presence", one refers everything, as it happens, to God. The emphasis in L'Abandon is that at each moment and in all activities one submits to the will of God. This is described as "self-abandonment to divine providence" by Father Jean Pierre de Caussade S.J. 1675/1751 |
Abba Mark 14: 36
Abba, Father, all things are possible for You....... ....never the less , not what I will, but what You will. Galatians 4:6 ESV ..because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying "Abba Father" |
PRAYER OF SELF-ABANDONMENTSanctity consists in fidelity to the order established by God and in self-abandonment to His action. The sanctity of the saints of old like that of St.Joseph and Our Lady consisted wholly in submission to the will of God
Our own spirituality consists in fidelity to the designs of God: Everything is reduced to complete and utter self-abandonment of the soul to God's most wholesome, loving, perfect purposes for us. Holiness consists in fidelity to God's plan and this fidelity is within everyone's capacity in both it's active and passive practice. We accept with prayerful submission, the crosses of our everyday earthly state and prayerfully submit with faith and love to the will of our heavenly Father in everything that is constantly being presented for us to do and endure. Perfection does not consist in understanding God's designs, but in submitting to them. Do you think that you will find peace by struggling against the Almighty? Genuine and stable peace is to be found in submission to divine action at any hour of the day. Holiness of heart is simple conformity of the will to God's will. What can be easier! Who can fail to love a will so lovable and good? In prayer we express our love for God and His good and wholesome and perfect will for us, and through this love in prayer and in practice, the divine presence is active in our prayerfully self abandoned lives. |

Charles de Foucauld's "Prayer of Abandonment"Father
I abandon myself into your hands; Do with me what you will. I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only your will be done in me And in all your creatures- I wish no more than this, O Lord. Into your hands I commend my soul; I offer it to you with all the love in my heart, For I love you Lord And so need to give myself, To surrender myself into your hands, Without reserve and with boundless confidence, For you are my Father. THE PRAYER OF HUMBLE ACCESSFrom the Alternative Service Book 1980.
We do not presume to come to this table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy table. But thou art the same lord whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore , gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of thy dear Son, Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, (that our sinful bodies may be made clean by His body and our souls washed through His most precious blood, ) and that we may evermore dwell in him and He in us. Amen. |
